Welcome to Liberiana!

I’m moving to Liberia soon and I’m starting this blog to share what I learn about this fascinating country as I experience it. In the same way that the term “Americana” is used to describe things related to America, I’ve coined the word “Liberiana” to refer to all things Liberian. Let’s discover them together!

About Home Strange Home

I first left the US in 1999, when I was 18 years old. Since then, I’ve spent 13 years living abroad - 3 in Canada, 7 in Europe, and 3 in Africa. Now I've finally returned to the US on a one-way plane ticket. I arrived home in late January 2014 and set foot in the US for the first time in nearly 2.5 years. In Home Strange Home, I blog about the ups and downs of my re-acculturation experience.

Readers, please feel free to comment on my posts! I want to hear your opinions, questions, compliments, constructive criticism, and other feedback. I’d especially like to hear input from Liberians, but also from other foreigners who have lived in Liberia for a while.
